Good Morning!

Good morning families. This week we are continuing out story writing with introducing graphic novels! Please send me their completed versions so I can post them on the blog for the other students to read.

Don't forget to take a look at the Morning Routine and Online Resources!

Here is Alex working away on his Math. Thanks for sending this in!

WEEK Eleven
Sight Words  Once, When, Had, Open
Print or make your own sight word flashcards. Post them on the fridge, a door, or somewhere your child will see them. The key is repetition through the week.

Reading
This month our focus is Living Things and Their Environments, which ties in to the Grade One Science curriculum. Please see right sidebar with reading group names. Your child will know their reading group. You should spend about 20 minutes per day on a lesson, in addition to the 20 minutes per day that your child reads independently.

Writing
We are continuing with story writing focusing on characters, setting, story problem/resolution and beginning, middle and end. This time, we are working on a one page graphic novel! Please find the template below.
*Tip! Have the students do their writing first before doing their picture or putting the bubble around it.

Math
I have set up a class account for IXL Math. You can use this program at home for additional math practice. Your login information has been emailed to you.

Please remember the most valuable part of your teaching will be the discussion and hands on practice with your child.

JUMP Math
Monday: 155-156
Tuesday: 157-158
Wednesday: 159-
Thursday: 141-142
Friday: review, complete unfinished pages, work on the beginning of the book.

Mindfulness
This week we are going to use the tense and release technique to relax our bodies.

Author of the Month
Robert Munsch is our Author of the Month. He is a very famous author! This week we are listening to the story Murmel, murmel, murmel. Enjoy!

Art Project

This week you are to design and create a card for someone you love. Inside, you are to think of 5 things you love about that person. The example below is to a dad, but it doesn’t have to be. It could be for anyone you really want to feel special and you could even make more than one! Practice using your invented spelling (Sounding out) and try your best to be specific.

On the cover, you can design it any way you would like. There are no rules! If your chosen person likes golf, maybe draw a picture of them golfing with you etc.  Good luck!!

Fun Activities

Summer Bucket activity

Here is a summer bucket list activity. Choose the buckets you are most drawn too and make your own bucket flip book.

Have a lovely week, everyone!
